The Shiba Inu cryptocurrency community is on high alert following the compromise of a administrator's Telegram account.
Ragnar Shib, an administrator in the Shiba Inu ecosystem, recently fell victim to a Telegram handle hijacking.
This breached account was exploited to falsely announce a BONE token airdrop.
Much like most scams, including the one that compromised Etheruem founder Vitalik Buterin's account, it aimed to create a sense of urgency among SHIB enthusiasts by claiming that the alleged airdrop had limited availability.
The fraudulent message stated:
"The BONE community airdrop wave is now open for claiming. A moment many of you have eagerly anticipated! We appreciate the growing interest and engagement in Shib's journey. Holders, followers, and builders, all eligible to claim a portion of BONE, more details below. The airdrop is open to all followers of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, we want everyone to participate. Tokens will be sourced from the team treasury wallet, implying this will be a limited opportunity."
Vet Kusama, a notable influencer in the SHIB realm, took to the X to clarify the situation.
"RagnarShiba TG account was hacked. Do not click on any links. There is no airdrop," he warned.
His post included a censored screenshot of the misleading content originating from Ragnar Shib's compromised account.
