OpenAI is witnessing an unprecedented surge in demand for its ChatGPT product among enterprise users.
According to OpenAI's Chief Operating Officer Brad Lightcap, the company has garnered a staggering 600,000 registrations for ChatGPT Enterprise, marking a significant milestone.
He characterised this growth as "tremendous momentum," positioning 2024 as a pivotal year for artificial intelligence (AI) adoption in the corporate sphere.
Since its launch in August 2023, ChatGPT Enterprise has experienced an astounding fourfold increase in enterprise users, soaring from 150,000 in January.
Notably, ChatGPT Enterprise offers an array of features, including the ability to exclude enterprise data from OpenAI's training sets, a capability also present in certain competitors like Microsoft Copilot.
This emphasis on data privacy addresses prevalent concerns regarding data access and content integrity.
Moreover, ChatGPT's enterprise model underscores the compatibility of data privacy with licensed access to data.
Brad highlighted ongoing efforts to establish licensing agreements between OpenAI and media entities, enabling the utilisation of external data for training and in-app content.
With approximately 1,200 employees, OpenAI is poised for further expansion, with plans to establish a presence in Tokyo.
He added:
"We have a very global base of demand. So we want to show up where our customers are. We feel a lot of pull from places like Japan and Asia broadly.”
